Frequently asked questions

Booking and prices

How does LicencePro work?

LicencePro is an online platform. Search your suburb, compare the partnered instructors who cover it, then choose a time and pay online. Your instructor picks you up from the address you choose.

How much does a driving lesson cost?

Automatic lessons start from $80 an hour and manual lessons from $90 an hour. Your exact price depends on your suburb, so search it to see the price before you book.

Can I choose my instructor?

Yes. You see the partnered instructors who cover your suburb and can read their profiles before you book. You can book a different instructor for your next lesson at any time.

Do you offer lessons on weekends?

Yes, lessons are available on weekends as well as weekdays. Weekend times are popular and fill up quickly, so we recommend booking ahead.

Is LicencePro available in my area?

LicencePro is growing around Australia. Search your suburb on the booking page to see whether partnered instructors cover your area.

Lessons

How long does a lesson go for?

Standard lessons are 1 hour, but we recommend 2-hour lessons for beginners. Longer lessons give you more time for instruction, practice and feedback.

How many driving lessons do I need?

It depends on your experience and how quickly you learn. For new learners we suggest 2 to 3 lessons a week, as regular practice helps you build and keep your skills.

Will my instructor pick me up?

Yes. Your instructor picks you up and drops you off at the address you choose, whether that is home, school or work.

Are the cars dual-control?

Yes. You learn in a dual-control car, so your instructor can brake if needed.

Can I use my own car for lessons?

Yes. Your first lesson needs to be in your instructor’s car so they can assess your driving. After that, if your car is roadworthy and fully insured, you can use it for later lessons.

Payments and vouchers

How do I pay?

You pay online by debit or credit card when you book, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Can I save with a package?

Yes. Automatic lesson packages of 5, 10 or 20 hours are available in selected locations and save you up to 10%. See automatic lessons for details.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes. You can buy lessons or a package as a gift. Vouchers are emailed instantly. See gift vouchers.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Our payment policy explains how changes and cancellations work. Please read it before you book.

Licences and test day

Can I use my instructor’s car for the driving test?

Yes. The Driving Test Package includes pick-up 1 hour before your test, a 45-minute warm-up and your instructor’s car for the test.

What do I need before I can book my driving test?

Each state and territory sets its own requirements, such as a minimum age, time on your learner licence, log book hours and a hazard perception test. Check the rules with your licensing authority, and see our driving resources for official links.

I have an overseas licence. Can you help?

Yes. Lessons help you learn local road rules and prepare for a driving test if your licence needs one. See overseas licence conversions.

How old do I need to be to get a learner licence?

It depends on your state or territory, but in most it is around 16. Check the rules with your licensing authority.

Instructors

Are LicencePro instructors accredited?

Yes. Every partnered instructor is accredited to teach driving and holds a working with children check.
